First RV trip in 2015 was Lancaster PA. All packed and ready to go the night before. Left early in the morning. We took 93 to 495 to 90 to 84 to 81 then 283 into Lancaster. By-passed all the heavy traffic for an enjoyable scenic ride. A good 7 hrs. Jo and I switched driving. First night was in a Walmart, then mid morning checked into Flory’s CG in Ronks PA. Very nice little quiet CG. Not big on amenities, but friendly folks. Easy backinto site, decent Wifi, but it was early in the season, so the CG was pretty empty. We had a great view of the Amish working the fields right behind our campsite.
Amish country was really great for bike riding. Slow rolling hills that aren’t a strain. We spent the first afternoon driving around to see where we wanted to take the bikes back to.
We had a great meal at the Red Caboose Restaurant, a quaint little breakfast/lunch place inside of an old caboose, with a great view of the countryside.
Right outside is an old tall silo that you can climb for a spectacular view!
Right after we mounted the bikes and off we went all around the Lancaster country roads. Beautiful farms with scattered family farmsteads by the side of the road, where we bought pretzels, jams, pies, and all sorts of delicious made-from-scratch foods!! A good 10 miles we biked that day.
A good 10 miles we biked that day.
Work horses resting in the cool shade.
Next day we biked again, but being Sunday in Amish Country, pretty much everything was closed. Still, amazing scenery and beautiful weather makes for a great day.
Monday morning, said goodbye and headed back down 81 to New Market VA.
