Apple Hill CG Franconia Notch, NH

Jo and I and the kids spent the weekend up in Franconia Notch NH at the Apple Hill CG in Bethel NH, just north of Franconia Notch.
A quiet little CG off the beaten path, no amenities, just hookups and access to all the great outdoors of the White Mountains.
We biked in town (a really nice bike path system), and later hiked through The Basin, a pothole of water carved into solid grant, which was a result of years of erosion during the melting of the Ice Age. During the thousands of years that followed sand and stones were whirled around by the force of the river causing a boring action that left the sidewalls smooth.

Next we walked The Flume Gorge, a natural gorge rising 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty. The walls of the granite rise to a height of up to 90 feet and are anywhere from 12 to 20 feet apart.
A very easy hike about 2 mile loop from the visitor center to the Flume and back.

All in all, great weather, nice hikes, and fun with the kids.
