Today, JUN 24th, we embarked on our 2 week Honeymoon. To head to the Great Smoky Mountains and hike as many trails that we can squeeze in. During the trip, we plan to stop along the way and visit friends, meet with family, and end the trip with a few days biking in Lancaster County PA. The beautiful Amish Country!
Picked up the RV from the storage lot the evening before and began to pack. By mid afternoon on Fri we were ready to go. Fuel tanks full, Oil check, and tire pressure all good, off we went. Jo and I swapped driving every few hours so we both can enjoy the journey. By 10PM we pulled into a PA rest area and settled in for the night.
The next day was spent with some old friends in Leesburg VA. We had dinner with them at Uncle Julio’s and enjoyed some real great fajita’s. We then settled in at the local Walmart. The next morning we had a great little breakfast with our friends in downtown Leesburg at the Shoes, Cup, and Cork. Amazing corn muffins! I’ve got to find that recipe.
We left Leesburg at around 10:30 am for the final 9 hour dive to the Smokys. 80 degrees, sunny, great ay for driving. Jo took the first leg. Gatlinburg TN was where our CG was for this leg of the trip.
Arriving at around 8PM, we pulled into the LeConte CG after the office had closed so we found our site, dropped the levelers, out went the slides and connected all the umbilical cords. we were good to go.
LeConte’s CG is a very nice CG. Not a lot pf RV sites, maybe 20 or so. Good Wifi, pull thru or easy back-in. Very friendly staff and there is a shuttle stop out from to take you to downtown Gatlinburg, which we used.
Tomorrow, Hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains!!
